Visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg to India

Indian EAM S. Jaishankar with FM Jean Asselborn of Luxembourg

Minister of Foreign & European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn paid an official visit to India. Minister Asselborn who is one of the longest-serving Foreign Ministers in Europe has had close associations with the Indian leadership and has visited India four times. During the current visit he visited Rajghat to pay respects to Mahatma Gandhi. As part of the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Luxembourg had issued a special postage stamp.

Minister Asselborn met Indian External Affairs Minister, Dr S. Jaishankar on 28 January 2020 at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The Ministers reviewed the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed ways to further strengthen the ties, including in the areas of trade & economic cooperation, space, political and strategic relations and cooperation in multilateral forums and in the European Union. The Ministers agreed to the further intensification of high-level political contacts.
