[Event] Decoding The Union Budget 2022-23

Think India Chandigarh on 5th February 2022 in association with their Media partners The Hindu Cafe and The Kootneeti and under the leadership of Mr Prashant goyal Convener Think India Chandigarh organised a webinar on, “ Decoding The Union Budget 2022-23”. The key speakers Prof. Siddharth  Rathore (Assistant  Professor Economics Dept Gargi College, Delhi University) and  Nikita Jain, IES( Assistant Director DMEO, Niti Aayog) were warmly welcomed by Ms Nancy Jain Member, Think India Chandigarh.

The key speakers provided a deep understanding of the union budget for 2022. Prof. Siddharth Rathore introduced the audience to structural aspects, including the Budget making process and the budget documents, and, academic understanding of the  fiscal and revenue deficit budget, expenditure and receipts

The second section explained by Miss Nikita Jain IES Assistant Director NITI Aayog, provided analytics of the various trends in the fiscal math, the government schemes for MSMEs, the Agriculture and Social sector, how the PLI scheme is part of the resource mobilization plan.

She says that the government’s focus on the Capex expenditure is to boost employment opportunities and to encourage private investment, the hallmark of it being the Gati-Shakti plan

Both speakers delved into the queries of the participants in detail and discussed the tax on cryptocurrency, that the tax is not legalization but rather a step towards its recognition, but It still remains a grey area.

The event saw the engaging participation of around 250 students from various disciplines. The event was concluded by delivering a vote of thanks by Ms Rachita Thakur Co-Convenor- PU, Think India Chandigarh
