International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC): Introduction and Predecessors

The World Confederation of Labor (WCL) was an international organization that represented the interests of trade unions around the world. It was established in 1920 and was headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. The WCL had more than 122 million members in over 240 trade unions in more than 120 countries. The WCL worked to promote and defend the rights of workers and to support the development of strong, independent trade unions around the world. It advocated for the rights of workers on a global level, including issues such as fair wages, decent work, and safe and healthy working conditions.
In 2006, the ICFTU and the WCL merged to form the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). The ITUC is the largest global trade union organization, representing the interests of more than 200 million workers in over 600 trade unions in over 160 countries.
ITUC and India
